This five day program meets Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. There are no more than thirteen children to two teachers in each classroom. This program focuses on the children’s expanding interest in their environment and their rapidly growing social skills. Themes that are explored with hands-on activities are weather, seasons, transportation, family and community. The children’s days are filled with art, music, movement, cooking, woodworking and science projects; pre-reading & math skills are also introduced through their play. Walking trips are planned throughout the year. The teachers encourage self regulation, impulse control and personal self sufficiency. The children are learning how to problem solve, resolve conflicts and make decisions. To align with the CT state requirements for Kindergarten, children must turn 4 on or before September 1.
